First olympic medal from winter games
Bulgaria`s first appearance in winter olympics is in 1936 in Garmisch Partenkirchen. Borislav Yordanov`s 27th place is the best achievment. First medal comes 44 years later in Lake Placid. Ivan Lebanov wins the bronze medal in cross country skiing (30 km). The only gold medal from winter olympics was won by Ekaterina Dafovska in “Nagano 98” in the biathlon.
